Dreams

Dreams are like goals that we want to achieve, they help and guide us to were we wish to end up. Dreams differ for everyone, one person might want to save up enough money to buy a car, another person might want to have a family but everyone has a dream. Sometimes you have to sacrifice things in order to achieve your dreams, for example if you want to be an RCMP officer your not going to go and drink on the weekends or do anything that could possibly harm your future dream. Without dreams we wouldnt try, we wouldnt push ourselfs and we wouldnt be able to do the best we can do.

My Personal Remedy

This summer was one of adventure and freedom for me, though not exciting as going to the jungles of eastern Africa but plenty enough for me.

In April my parents bought me a car from the Kelowna auction and I have been, without success, trying to insure it. I went to all the stores I could think of to apply for a part-time job: Wall-Mart, Zellers, Staples, Dollar Store, London drugs, but no one was hiring. I had given up hope of ever driving that black Plymouth neon espresso gathering dust in my parent’s driveway when out of the blue I received a wake up call at nine in the morning from one of the managers at Pacific Rim Equipment Rentals asking if I wanted a job. YES! After about a week of working at Pacific Rim, washing excavators and other construction equipment, I got my first pay check. The very next day I was at BCAA insuring my car.

The feeling of being able to go wherever I want whenever I want is unlike anything I’ve ever been able to do. The way all of my troubles seem to disappear as I concentrate on the road. It’s a sort of medication for me, except I don’t need to wait at the hospital for over an hour for a doctor to prescribe it to me. If I’m having a bad day at home I can easily hop in my car and cruise down the beach, roll down my windows and smell the sweet aroma of the waves as they crash onto the sandy shores and be cured all of that ales me. The way the cool summer breeze gently brushes my face and sends welcomed shivers down my otherwise melting body. I can drive to my friends houses anytime I want and I can be home anytime I feel like it and all I have to do is call my parents every once in a while.

Since insuring my car I have gained freedoms I could only have had in my dreams. If I want to go to McDonalds because I’m hungry I will. If I’m bored and I want to watch movie from blockbusters I can easily drive down and get one. Getting a car insured may be a small chore to some people but it has changed my life for the better….. Now I just have to keep gas in the tank and everything will be fine.
